Make a difference – so, what is the role?

We are looking for a Senior UI Designer who has creativity and flare and is looking to step up in their career.  You will be key to designing our new mobile and web product suite and design systems.

  • Collaborate with a broad and cross functional team including Designers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, Engineers and other experts across the business.
  • Working closely with UX designers, lead the design of hyper-functional user interfaces for a wide range of business applications, across web and mobile.
  • Produce detailed, annotated, and complete interface designs and specifications to enable close collaboration with engineers.
  • Participate in and support a broad range of user research efforts.
  • Work side by side with software engineers to identify and address gaps between UI/API/Back End
  • Design user interface patterns and guidelines appropriate to the medium (web, mobile), and users (micro businesses, large accounting practices, etc.).
  • Champion and contribute to Reckon’s Balance Design System (web and mobile)
  • Support and mentor more junior members of the design team.
  • Support the development team throughout.


Ideally you’ll have 

  • Strong communication skills, able to get your ideas across clearly and persuasively verbally and in writing.
  • Prolific at designing high quality, well organised interfaces and patterns that balance user goals with real world constraints like time, budget, and technical feasibility.
  • Be enthusiastic and enjoy working on new projects.
  • Have a desire to solve real world, task orientated problems using software.
  • Find interest in understanding the making of the products you help design and enjoy collaboration with the broader teams.
  • Enjoy the gritty details of usability and interfaces and the process of how software is made.
  • Intimately familiar with how software interfaces and products are implemented (the trade-offs and the compromises).
  • Comfortable operating autonomously and can unblock yourself when needed.
